German Bundesliga starts in Friday, August 14 with defending champions
Bayern Munich hosting
Hamburg.
Bayern sold
Bastian Schweinsteiger, one of their midfield architects for success in recent years, to Manchester United. Replacements come from South America in forms of
Arturo Vidal (Chile) and
Douglas Costa (Brazil). Numbers might be in Bayern's favor in this, as last season their biggest obstacle for second successive trophy was injuries with their top players.
Wolfsburg came second last season, to surprise of many. They have further improved their offense by signing
Max Kruse from Borussia Monchengladbach, but their will need perfect season and also solid defense to steal the trophy from Bayern.
Bayer Leverkusen,
Borussia Dortmund and
Borussia Monchengladbach will be the other teams that we expect to battle for the champions league positions in Germany. Dortmund probably has the most hunger to improve after finishing 7th in last season.
As German teams usually don't make much shopping towards the end of transfer window, here is how we expect the season to end:
- Bayern Munich
- Wolfsburg
- Borussia Dortmund
- Bayer Leverkusen
- Borussia Monchengladbach
