English Premier League will be the first of the big four European soccer leagues to start the new 2015/16 season in August 8th. We expect the title will go to London again, with both Manchester teams tailing not far behind.
Chelsea has sold
Peter Czech to Arsenal and acquired
Radamel Falcao from Monaco. As defending champions, Chelsea can do little to improve in EPL, but
José Mourinho will probably want to advance further in the European fields. The season might be long for Chelsea, and it could show in EPL performances in the spring.
Compared to last season,
Arsenal can be expected to display more results from their wide forward section and second spot in the league should easily be in their reach. If Petr Czech's experience can bring some stability to their defense, they could definitely compete for the league title.
Manchester City bought
Raheem Sterling from Liverpool to strengthen their already competitive squad, and as far as the league title is considered, they might be the biggest challenger from outside the capital to the top two London teams.
Manchester United shopped heavily this summer, bringing
Bastian Schweinsteiger from Bayern Munich and
Morgan Schneiderlin from Southampton to improve their midfield. But we think that it may take another season before they can fight for the title. A good campaign could bring them very close to their local rivals in EPL, and return to European fields will no doubt bring satisfaction to the fans.
After purchasing
Christian Benteke from Aston Villa and
Roberto Firmino from Hoffenheim,
Liverpool will not lack forward options this season, but they must also improve their defense to compete for Champions League slots.
Transfer window will be open for a while longer, and there will certainly be some big last day transfers to EPL.
With current squads, we predict this top 5 after the season is over:
- Chelsea
- Arsenal
- Manchester City
- Manchester United
- Liverpool
